Your data and Afbit
Last updated: 3 November 2026
Afbit (afbit.org) teaches digital skills in Somali. This page explains, simply, what data we collect and how we use it.
What we collect
- The contributor form: your name, email, phone (optional), city and country, what you do, how you'd like to help, your AI knowledge and any note you leave.
- Afbit Studio (accepted contributors only): your email, your password (stored scrambled, so we can't see it), and the work you do in the writing room: lesson text, comments and history.
- A shared contributor pass shows only your first name and the first letter of your last name.
- Pre-registration for the courses: your name, email, WhatsApp (optional), city and who you are, to send you a welcome email and tell you when the courses open.
What we don't collect
- No ads, no tracking cookies, and we never sell your data.
- The public pages use no cookies. Afbit Studio uses one cookie to keep you signed in, and one to remember your language.
Why
- To review applications and contact you about the courses.
- So contributors can write the lessons together in Afbit Studio.
Who helps us
- Cloudflare hosts the website and keeps short visit logs to keep it secure.
- Supabase (Europe) stores the data and runs Afbit Studio's sign-in.
- Resend (Europe) sends Afbit Studio's emails and the welcome email.
- They only use the data to provide their service to us.
Your rights
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time. Email us at hello@afbit.org.
- We keep application data for as long as we need it for the courses, or until you ask us to delete it.
